The Rise of the Skyscrapper Recognized throughout the world, the architecture of Chicago is a reflection and celebration of the history of American architecture. Join Lynn Osmond on a virtual tour of Chicago and learn the stories behind the visionaries who shaped the city’s most prominent skyscrapers and the skyscrapers that, in turn, shaped a city. The presentation features noted architects such as Daniel Burnham and Mies van der Rohe and world-renowned masterpieces such as the Tribune Tower and the Auditorium Building. About Our Speaker Lynn Osmond, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hon. AIA Chicago Architecture Foundation
Since 1966, the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) has engaged the public in exploring Chicago’s architecture. Through a comprehensive program of tours, exhibitions, lectures, special events, and adult and youth education programs, CAF challenges a broad audience to understand urban environments and participate in the construction of communities that are inclusive and sustainable. CAF is ranked in the top 10 cultural institutions of Chicago.
Lynn Osmond has been the President and CEO of the Chicago Architecture Foundation since 1996. In 2005 she was recognized as an Honorary Member of the American Institute of Architects for her contribution to the field. Prior to joining CAF, she managed major performing arts companies in Canada and the U.S. Under her leadership, the Chicago Architecture Foundation quadrupled growth with a total of over 460,000 participants. Ms. Osmond serves on boards including the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, Chicago Loop Alliance and the University Club of Chicago. She is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and is co-chair of the Toronto Sister Cities Club.
