The West Group
The West Group is designed to give UCWBG members who live or work in the western suburbs a chance to meet in their backyard. However, all UCWBG members are welcome to attend.

In today's dynamic work environment, there is nothing more valuable than a good friend and mentor. The only investment required is time. Meetings are a good opportunity to get to know one another better.

Meetings are typically held in the Oakbrook area for breakfast or lunch. In December, the West Group joins the North/Northwest Networking Group, Mother's Network, and Entrepreneur Group for the Annual Holiday Luncheon in Long Grove, IL.

Please contact Nancy L. Scott by email at west@ucwbg.org for more information or to join an upcoming West Group meeting.

The North/Northwest Group
The North/Northwest (N/NW) Group serves UCWBG members from the North and Northwest suburbs of Chicago, but all members are welcome to attend. Since 1990 members who live and/or work in the suburbs have this opportunity to attend UCWBG functions without the long drive into the loop.

Join your fellow UCWBG members in a relaxed, friendly setting. Take this opportunity to form social, business and information contacts.

Meetings are held five times a year at selected restaurants in the North and Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Most meetings are held on the third Thursday of every other month. Each first Saturday in December we hold our annual holiday luncheon in Long Grove.

Irene Márquez is the group's coordinator. Please contact her by phone at: (847) 657-7818 or by email at north@ucwbg.org for more information or to RSVP for an upcoming N/NW group meeting.

The Mother's Network is Back!
In partnership with UCWBG, CWiBAN, CWiB and GWB, working and student Moms from the GSB are reviving the Mothers in Business Network.

The Mother's Network provides a place to discuss the challenges of raising children, whether combining it with paid employment or devoting ourselves full-time to family tasks, and to discuss current events or other topics of interest. Come get new ideas, share resources and laugh a lot. But most of all realize that you are not alone.

Our goal is to build our network slowly and sustainably, starting with informal, free, kid-friendly meetings on the last Saturday or Sunday of each month. Meetings will be held in various locations such as local coffee shops, parks or even members' homes. The intent is to create a fun, welcoming community that encompasses our identities as both mothers and business women.

A Google Group will be created so we can connect virtually outside of the monthly meetings and with alumnae across the country. Other activities and events will be planned as interests dictate.

Interested? Contact the Mothers' Group coordinator for more information or to RSVP for an upcoming Mother's Network event.

Inactive Member Group

The following groups are not currently active. If you would like to serve as a leader for any of these members groups, please contact Maggie McCoy [President@ucwbg.org]

The Entrepreneur Group [inactive]
Nearly one quarter of the UCWBG membership is self-employed, and many other members are interested in learning more about becoming business owners. This group is designed to support UCWBG members in this area. Meetings are held bimonthly over breakfast or dinner, with locations changing to serve the needs of this group.

We are focused on providing opportunities for: networking and business development, sharing experiences with others who are self-employed, and learning from others who have been successful out on their own. In the next several weeks, we will be polling members in more detail as to what they are looking for from the Entrepreneur subgroup.

The Entrepreneur Group consists primarily of University of Chicago Women's Business Group (UCWBG) members who are entrepreneurs, but all UCWBG members are welcome to attend.
